Akihabara, the dark side of peace & harmony

June 9, 2008 2 comments

On the surface, the Japanese seem exceptionally well adjusted, smart and content. The concept of Wa, states the importance of working and living together in peace and harmony, avoiding confrontation is essential.

And it looks good…on the surface!

Proverb of the day “Deru kui wa utareru” Its better to conform than to stand out. (Or maybe not?)

NHK-studio park presents you with a taste of “a life in the dazzling spotlight”.  All information delivered in Japanese only, hence a little inaccessible for the non-Japanese person, but definitely worth the effort.

This brave lady tossed all shyness aside, and delivered the news like a pro.

(noteworthy alignment of two or more events or circumstances without obvious causal connection)

After about two weeks, it was about time to take an intrest in the daily newspapers.

What do the Japanese care about? What do they talk about?

Out of curiosity, I picket out a normal everyday newspaper of the rack.

Not knowing hiragana and katana, it was a bit of a challenge to get a good impression.

But then, out of nowere a familiar face captured my constantly fluctuating attention. In the middle of sex-adds and stock market notions, was a picture of Norway’s princess. Laughingand smiling with out a care in the world.

Apparently, according to the girl in the bunk-bed next to me. It was about something like a Norwegian princess and angels.

Nice…..I love it ❤
